Sweet nothings: Australia’s Top 20 Moscatos

Posted on Oct 23, 2017

Moscato’s defining characteristic, according to world sparkling expert Tyson Stelzer, is its price.

“Above all else, Moscato should be cheap”, he says in his Australian Sparkling Report. “Let’s face it, if you’re after a sweet, grapey, bubbly hit, you’re hardly looking for a profound drinking experience and you’re not about to break the bank.”

We’re not about to argue with a man who is more at home with bottles of champagne worth thousands of dollars each. But, even with expectations as low as these, we still think you might as well buy the best you can for the few shekels you’ll pay in this category.

Happily for Tyson – and for everyone else – our top pick is also the cheapest of our Top Six at just $7.50 a bottle. And the rest average just $11. This will be the cheapest list we publish this year.
